Traceroute is a probe view, not a topology database
A hop can have multiple responders because of ECMP, load balancing or control-plane behavior. Asterisks can reflect filtering or rate limiting rather than packet forwarding failure. ICMP annotations such as !H and !X can be more important than RTT alone.
This analyzer preserves those signals rather than collapsing a hop into one address and one average.
